For the current year, we’re once again on route. From April 20, 2024, the sail dance will commence, coloring the seas off the Livorno coast, in the waters in front of the Marina Cala de’ Medici tourist port, and the sailing clubs of Castiglioncello, Quercianella, and Livorno.

This year, the International Sailing Week will host the following racing classes, seven of which are designated by the Italian Sailing Federation, national-level competitions: Optimist, Open skiff, Wing foil, Fly junior, Fly Dutchman, Fireball, J24, Hansa 303/2.4 MR/Martin 16, J70, and Star. For the Star class, which has its roots in the history of sailing, the first Admiral Agostino Straulino Trophy has also been organized, honoring the legendary Italian sailor and Olympic sailing gold medalist. This competition will take place amidst the rich schedule of events, beginning on the weekend of April 20-21 with seven races, and concluding the following weekend with six more competitions.

This year, the sailing village will take shape at Porta a Mare, near Livorno’s Historical Workshops, and adjacent to the Medici Pier, the Boat Show has been planned, featuring an interactive exhibition of vintage sails from the Italian Navy and beyond.

As usual, the Naval Academy promotes the NAR, the competition between foreign navies who compete sportsmanlike aboard Tridente 16s, and this year too, a significant number of foreign training institutes will participate, aiming to strengthen international cooperation.

Finally, in its seventh edition, the Yacht Club Livorno, with the support of UVAI and the participation of the Naval Military Sailing Section, the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda, and the Yacht Club Capri, has organized, from April 24th to May 1st, the RAN 630, an offshore regatta that will take sailors on a 630 nautical mile journey from Livorno to the Costa Smeralda, with a stopover at Capri and return.

Numerous novelties will expand the range of collateral events surrounding the main event, simultaneously enhancing the sports village which, together with the Naval Academy, will become the focal point of the Sailing Week, aiming to spread knowledge and values of this wonderful sport even beyond the city.
